What is a seal used for?

A seal is used to seal the engine around rotating parts, such as the crankshaft. When replacing the crankshaft bearings, it is recommended to replace the seals as well. A damaged seal can start leaking, which may prevent the engine from working optimally or even cause it to fail. Replacing a seal does not usually require special tools for most scooters.

What types of seals are there for my scooter?

• Seal: This is the generic term for all types of seals. These are mounted at various locations on the scooter to seal them off.
• Fork seal: A fork seal prevents oil from leaking over the fork and between the fork caps. It is essential for maintaining the correct functioning of the suspension and damping.
• Oil seal: An oil seal is mounted to prevent oil from leaking out when the shaft rotates. Additionally, the oil seal helps to keep dirt and water out, which is crucial for the lifespan of the engine parts.
